In vitro fertilisation (IVF)

In Vitro fertilization is an assisted reproductive technology(ART), commonly called as test tube baby.

In Vitro Fertilization(IVF) is a process of fertilization where an egg is combined with sperm outside the body, in vitro (“in glass”).  The process involves stimulating woman’s ovaries and removing an ovum or ova(egg or eggs) from the women’s ovaries and letting sperm fertilize them in a laboratory in a special culture.

After fertilization, the zygote, undergoes 2-6 days of growth in a special culture media in the incubator.  After 5th day, the embryo reaches a stage called blastocyst.  The blastocyst are selected depending upon the morphological score.  The best quality blastocyst is  kept inside the uterus. That process is called Embryo Transfer.

IVF is done for many female and male causes for infertility

For Male

IVF success rates are the percentage of all IVF procedures that result in a pregnancy. Depending on the type of calculation used, this outcome may represent the number of confirmed pregnancies, called the pregnancy rate, or the number of live births, called the live birth rate. The success rate depends on variable factors such as maternal age, causes of infertility, embryo quality, reproductive history, and lifestyle factors. The IVF success rate 40% per cycle.

The cumulative success rate in our hospital is more than 70% to 80%.
