Poor Egg Count
- Low ovarian reserve is when there is a physiological decrease in the number and quality resulting in an insufficient number to ensure a reasonable chance of pregnancy.
- Diminished ovarian reserve is the loss of normal reproductive potential in the ovaries due to lower count or quality of remaining eggs.
- Low Oocyte count is due to low numbers of remaining Oocytes in the ovaries (or) possibly impaired oocyte development recruitment in utero.

Causes of decreased eggs
- Increasing age
- Genetic defect(chromosomal abnormally)with disnished egg reserve(fragile egg syndrome)
- Post cancer treatment(Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy)
- H/o previous ovarian surgeries, surgery for endometriosis.
- In many cases, no apparent cause not found (idiopathy)
- Premature Ovarian Failure.
- Chromosom abnormalities like turner's syndrome.
- Cigarette smoking.
Causes of decreased eggs
- No symptoms at all (or) shortened menstrual cycle
- Irregular Periods (oligo menorrhea)
- Ammenorrhoea
- Infertility
- Vaginal Hot Flushes, decreased libido
Diagnosis of Diminished Ovarian Reserve
- Hormonal analysis (Day 2, FSH, Estradiol)
- Anti Mullarian hormone assay.
- Transvaginal ultrasound to know antral follicular count.
- Stimulation tests (clomiphene citrate, FSH, GnRh).
Treatment Options: depends upon the whether they are completed family or wanted to have a family.
- The patient wants to conceive immediately means, the patient has to undergo ART, In that hormonal injections are given to induce many follicles called superovulation. The ova retrieved used for IVF and the remaining eggs or embryos are cryopreserved.
- For future fertility, Fertility preservation is done by a woman’s eggs are retrieved from her ovaries, freezing them for later use.
- Donor egg in conjunction with IVF.
- Mesenchymal Stem cell treatment, PRP treatment.
These treatments are newer advances in infertility, where they are rejuvenating ovaries and eggs.
