In vitro fertilisation (IVF)

IVF

IVF is the joining of a woman’s egg and a man’s sperm in a laboratory outside the body the sperm has attached to and enters the egg. In Vitro fertilization is an assisted reproductive technology(ART), commonly called a test-tube baby. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF Treatment) is a process of fertilization where an egg is combined with sperm outside the body, in vitro (“in glass”).

The process involves stimulating a woman’s ovaries and removing an ovum or ova(egg or eggs) from the women’s ovaries and letting sperm fertilize them in a laboratory in a special culture. After fertilization, the zygote undergoes 2-6 days of growth in a special culture media in the incubator.

After 5th day, the embryo reaches a stage called a blastocyst. The blastocyst is selected depending upon the morphological score. The best quality blastocyst is kept inside the uterus. That process is called Embryo Transfer. IVF is a series of steps that might take several weeks. The steps involved in this procedure are given below.

IVF Treatment success rates are the percentage of all IVF procedures that result in a pregnancy. Depending on the type of calculation used, this outcome may represent the number of confirmed pregnancies, called the pregnancy rate, or the number of live births, called the live birth rate. The success rate depends on variable factors such as maternal age, causes of infertility, embryo quality, reproductive history, and lifestyle factors. The IVF success rate of 40% per cycle.

In vitro fertilization (IVF treatment) for infertility or genetic problems. If IVF is performed to treat infertility, you and your partner might be able to try less-invasive treatment options before attempting IVF, including fertility drugs to increase the production of eggs or intrauterine insemination – a procedure in which sperm are placed directly in your uterus near the time of ovulation.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a complex series of procedures used to help with fertility or prevent genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child. Your chances of having a healthy baby using IVF depend on many factors, such as your age and the cause of infertility. In addition, IVF can be time-consuming, expensive, and invasive. If more than one embryo is transferred to your uterus, IVF can result in a pregnancy with more than one fetus (multiple pregnancies).

The cumulative success rate in our hospital is more than 70% to 80%.
